There's a particular kind of silence that falls over a jeep track in Pench just before a tiger reveals itself — not the absence of sound, but everything holding still at once, as though the forest itself is waiting to see what happens next. This one didn't slip past at a distance. He stopped, turned, and looked directly at us.

Most tiger sightings end in motion — a flash of stripes through grass, a tail disappearing into cover. This was different: stillness held on both sides, long enough to feel less like an observation and more like an exchange. There was no aggression in it, no urgency to move on. Just a direct, unhurried gaze from an animal entirely secure in his own territory, sizing up the strangers who'd interrupted his afternoon.

It's a rare kind of proximity, and an even rarer kind of eye contact — the sort that photographers spend years in the field hoping for and rarely get handed so plainly. "Tiger's Gaze" holds exactly that: not a chase, not a hunt, just the unblinking directness of a predator who has nothing left to prove and no reason to look away first.
